The title is ironic, because by the end of this whiny, contrived series I wanted to suffocate myself. My wife and I were literally begging for the grizzly bear to return. A plot so thin you could sell it as a weight loss supplement and trite, shallow characters. But the most annoying thing was the constant diversions into fantasy conversations with her parents. I won’t even start to discuss the many implausible situations in her “survival” attempts. Read a book. Watch some paint dry. Enjoy a healthy bowel movement. Just avoid this show.

So much promise in the early seasons followed by complete disintegration in Season 5. The pathetically untalented actress who portrays a future Joanie (and looks nothing like her or her parents) is brought in to warn us of the perils of global warming. The story line is disjointed and preachy, full of implausible scenes, like the Montauk police records just sitting in boxes in the abandoned station. In the meantime, previous interesting story lines are just dropped. Character arcs among the leads make no sense, and the new characters are trite and shallow. Also annoying are the haphazard appearances of new technologies in a bizarre attempt to make it a sci-fi series. I gave it two stars, one for each of the first two compelling and well written seasons. Season 5 is bad enough to wipe out any of the stars that were merited in Seasons 3 and 4.

Started with a bang that soon turned into a fizzle. So tired of forced “strong woman” man-hating characters. The initial premise was great, and the actors did as well as they could with their shallow characters. Peter Dinklage’s Russian mobster morphed into a buffoon, while the Lesbian Starsky and Hutch recovered from brutal beatings with coiffed hair and bruises that looked more like hastily applied blush. The resolution was so ridiculous it could have been a comedy. Don’t waste your time.
