Incredible universe building. Maybe it is just me but I feel like it could have easily been two or three books. It moves at an insane break neck speed. I reccomend it definitely, but think that people who are looking for a sprawling epic may be disappointed. Even with an 800 page novel.

The CGI couldn't hide the fact that DeNiro has aged. Some scenes it is pretty jarring just because this supposedly youthful guy moves like someone much much older. The plot is a bit of a mess... I feel like it would have been much better served with a 10 episode mini series run. So many of the characters never really get developed. That said the period piece is done masterfully. The actors all deliver, and the cast is dynamite.
