LONG REVIEW:
I've played dungeons & dragons for over a decade and I was really hoping for a good D&D game. I've seen a lot of complaints about bugs but the only one I've experienced is every time you finish an Act it boots the entire party back to the main menu. Other than that the game is amazing. The music is good the voice acting is amazing the gameplay is fun in the sense that there is no animation cancelling you commit to the attack at the risk of getting hit while in the animation. All these people hating on the game are like it's "clunky" really? Let me see you swing a 30 pound hammer and cancel the attack in real life. Stop comparing every game to another game. It would be mind numbingly boring to be able to swing your weapon non stop with no repercussions. These people aren't taking advantage of the block, parry and dodge capabilities. You can roll in multiple directions to avoid attacks your stamina bar is easy to maintain and your health bar does seem pretty weak in the beginning but as you gain gear and abilities it's much easier to manage with health potions, gear, abilities and feats (some increase max HP, stamina, decrease ultimate guage refill time etc).
The final boss in Act 2 or 3 (I can't remember ) of the first mission is very hard starting out but that's what makes it fun. It only took me a few tries after learning the bosses mechanics. The dodging hit box does seem a little off for some monsters and attacks but generally it worked fine for me. All these people run into enemies and just start swinging and then complain about getting hit/killed basically like yeah single out opponents create a strategy such as (archers die first they are slow and not armored and can hit you from a distance) before rushing in and then crying cause you got hit, knocked to the ground and then killed by the mob standing over your body. Some people enjoy games that are semi realistic, I swing my axe at one guy and the guy behind me hits me. This isn't assassins Creed where I can fight 300 guys at once through endless parrying into attacks that's boring.
The characters are awesome looking the cutscenes/cinematics are sweet specially after reading the forgotten realms books and watching it in real life the actual design of the levels are beautiful. Don't get me wrong the game still has a ways to come as far as a full game and I don't think it is worth $49.99 in it's current state it seems more like an early access game but overall the game is enjoyable and far from "garbage" as some others put it. I hope they plan on releasing updates to fix minor bugs/exploits that arise and future content such as multiple party raids, challenge runs for better quality loot, different set armors pieces I'd love more missions to do of course and I wouldn't even mind longer dungeons with more interactive NPC missions throughout. Like save this girl from a pack of goblins and earn an extra 100 gold and one piece of loot.
