It was decent but i'm a fan, so there is my personal bias . LeatherFace returns but has been awoken (he is secluded from rural society in an orphanage) when his caregiver, the lady proprietor of said orphanage; is inadvertently killed by accident. The kills are well executed (pardon the pun) , the two young women protagonists are likable, and the cinematography is good. We are left to deduce that the Hitchhiker, Grandpa, The Cook are....dead? Disbanded? We see the attempt of the film makers to contrast LeatherFace in a matriarchal environment as opposed to a (toxic, competitive ) Patriarchal Family ( from Hooper's seminal 74 and 86 films). Matriarchy and Gentrification are potential themes that are too quickly glossed over. Still, it has decent acting and cinematography. Too many stupid decisions, though; where Leather should easily have been dead before the droll end scene. Yes, it's a slasher film. Fair enough, but suspension of disbelief difficulty can really be frictious against wanting to see empathetic leads at least get out alive. If you like Fede Alverez's 2013 EVIL DEAD redux and his DON'T BREATHE films, then you will at least enjoy this. At a fleet 83 minutes, and if you're a fan of tje TCM franchise, this one is worth a look. 7 out of 10.

a brilliant, criminally overlooked gem from 1999. A vicious excoriation of toxic masculinity and it's contribution toward generational (re:abuse) trauma. The two leads are excellent and the slow-burn pacing toward the stunning climax has to be seen to believed. There are in-jokes from the director, Katt Shea (Poison Ivy)and religous symbolism in this shockingly intelligent and thought -provoking thriller. This is a very cerebral horror film; that; frankly is too smart for it's own good ( especially commerically, it actually lost money at the box office). Most Film Critics do not understand Intelligent Horror or Thriller movies because they rebel against "cookie-cutter" formula dreck with it's poignant social commentary.

Its not bad, but way too many Time Jumps! Stop the time jumping and keep it Linear filmmakers. Owen Teague and James Marsden and Alexander Skarsgaard steal the show.

not bad ; but too many plotholes and lazy writing have dampened this series' promising first few seasons to a maddening level of inconsistency : excellent episode one week, a mediocre one the next. why call for a " reclamation " and then just change your mind ( Isabelle) had gasolone all thw while. if the reclamation team arw going to be there ("you have the NIGHT " she says in the campdirw scene); then how come Althea and the CMR lady; Isabelle; arw still together @(presumably by judgging from the lighting and cinematography ) Late MORNING? ???if not early afternoon.
