I skipped Madden 21 due to the terrible reviews, something I have not done since 1994. I figured with the shining reviews that Franchise was finally getting some love, I'd give this year a shot. I ran through preseason in Franchise mode, it was alright. The news about my team in Franchise was off. I shutout my 3 opponents in preseason. 2 of the 3 weeks it said I came from behind in an improbable victory. Additionally, my games were Away, Home, Home and for both my home games it said I was the visiting team.. decided to check out Face of the Franchise and it's a teenage coder's failed school project. Subtitles are rushed and sometimes do not match up at all with the conversation. Mouth movements are terrible (think watching an English dubbed Godzilla movie). I get through the draft and my first game is against the Panthers (I was drafted 2nd, by the Jets). The commentators say "It's the Jets against the [inaudible]." I get to kickoff and I see it's the Jets against the Jets.....in Bank of America stadium. In addition, twice I have made the game crash. The first was when I tried collecting my pre-order reward. The second was when I was answering my Head Coach's question with the choices of self-assured or humble (I chose humble). Upon restarting the game, I chose the same answer and it worked fine. I've put probably 5-6 hours into this game. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on anything but the base version (this is the X/S version). I know they said they are planning to release some patches, but they don't even have most of the basic functionality working at this point.
