One of the best TV series that I have watched in a long time. Although I like fantasy stories in theory, I tend not to like many in practice; however, this show works not only as fantasy, but as a riveting and believable story of human emotions and psychology. The casting is flawless, and the acting is even better. The chemistry among the characters is completely believable and a joy to watch. The use of flashbacks, which can be really a bother sometime, are used expertly here, without ever slowing the pace and momentum of the story. A common complaint for me of many mini-series is that the pacing is all wrong, with the first 4-5 episodes slow, with not much happening, and then the last couple of episodes are wrapped up at a frenetic pace. I love that each episode has a mystery to solve, so there is a beginning and end to each episode. But the overall arc of the story continues just as well-paced too. The writing is near-perfect too. I absolutely loved the show, and I will be crushed if there is not another episode.

If I had to choose between watching this show and getting a root canal with no Novocaine, I'd choose the root canal.

I truly loved the first 60% of the novel, then it just goes off the rails. The Netflix version takes everything that was great about the novel and ruins it. Pity.

Truly horrible. We watch tons of foreign mystery-thriller shows, and this was by FAR the worst. We skipped watching the final episode and just read the recap online (and were then thrilled we had not watched the final episode). Skip this for sure.

It pulls you in really effectively, and the acting is excellent, especially the actor playing Mateo Vidal. But it starts to jump the shark by episode 5&6 with LOTS of exposition that leads nowhere. And by the end you can't really believe why anyone did anything, and even the "bad guys" who have irritated you so much, their "justice" is so, so, so unsatisfying. It might have been better as as a shorter miniseries, to discipline the writers and make them make choices. But, ultimately, I would like my time back watching this.

Truly dreadful. Main character is completely unlikeable and unbelievable, with her tag-along friend no help. The first main plot point (is she or isn't she) is completely preposterous because the issue could be answered easily if anyone had a brain. (DNA test anyone?) And at first the (attempted) spookiest suggested the supernatural angle was more metaphor. But then, um, no. So if you go into this knowing it's an attempt at a supernatural horror story (and you like bad ones), you might like it. But I sure wish I had back the time I wasted watching this. It's not even good bad.

Nearly faultless. Moving without being depressing. Inspirational even. Amazing performance by Ben Aldridge, and everyone even. Still thinking about the movie days later.
