The film makers played it far too safe. I know the story of Emmett Till. I wanted some further layers to make it personal to me and that was completely lacking. I didn't feel any discomfort. The characters were not fleshed out. It didn't make me angry as hell which any person with an iota of humanity should feel when Emmett's story is told. I couldn't connect with it in any discernable way. I liked Emmett's juvenile ways but that was about it. This could've and should've been a historic, powerful, painful watch but it was just a watch. So disappointing. The lady that played Emnett's mum was good.

A very enjoyable watch, minus of course, the dreadful rock and heavy metal music that accompanys the whole series. The music director should be fired for giving me a damned headache. It closely follows the true story of how the SAS came into being. The acting and scripting is good. If you didn't know these operations were real life events you might be forgiven for thinking it was a spoof series. That brazeness in the midst of acute danger sometimes has a comedic feel to it eventhough it's deadly serious life and death. That is SAS to a Teee though, thumbing their noses up and giving the middle finger salute to extreme danger . That famous military humor and inappropriateness is on full show and left me guffawing.....The screwed up psyche and incredible courage of the Special Air Services soldier is the thing of legends, and this gives a little peak into that tough, nonchalant and unperturbed attitude.

It's a lovely film. I actually stumbled across it. I had just watched The Amazing Spider Man 2 which Emma Stone was in. I thought she was both good and good looking in it. So I wanted to watch another one of her movies and thought Birdman would be more for me as I generally don't watch romantic comedy's. I like action adventure, World Film and Thrillers. But for some reason I just stopped on this, probably because it comes ahead of Birdman alphabetically. I'm happy I did. I liked the scripting. The techno science babble between Stone and Cooper that serves as their courting spiel, is a nice replacements for the usual rehashed tripe of the genre. I liked that the most. It's an unusual topic to set a romantic film on, another plus. It's a neat left fielder. I don't know why the critics panned it. I rather enjoyed it
