Honestly, I gave up after 45 mins of this 3 hour film. The film seems desperate to try weave as many gross scenes together as possible in what looks like a multicoloured vomit orgy. There is only the faintest wiff of a plot in between tirelessly long scene aimed to make it really, really, really obvious that the film is attempting to protray debauchery. Yeah I get the point but half hour scenes dedicated to this point just gets boring. Subtlety clearly isn't the approach of this director.
Not sure if their is any character development in the rest of the film but that notion seems to get in the way of whatever unfocused, sprawling, jarring mess this film aims to be. I found it tiring being dragged through this blatantly obvious points the film seeks to make in scenes that are far too long.
The characters all seem to be one dimensional walking clichés.
The acting is definitely good - unsurprising given the cast - but this doesn't save a film that feels like a paradoxically unengaging assult on the senses.
