I implore you. If you are not walking around this earth as a functional illiterate, read the books.
I have read this series three times and there is no comparison, the television adaptation is simply terrible.
It is to be expected that they would have to cut characters and plot lines to adapt it to television. It's the complete changing and main characters and the addition of poor story arcs that wrecks it.
