The animation and soundtrack are phenomenal. You can see the skill from the directors and composer (who worked on Demon Slayer, my favorite OST). The color direction was beautiful and most of the time the scenes moved fluidly.
However there is very little connection between the various plot points that make narrative sense and give a satisfying conclusion. Episodes 1-3 were alright, great even. But once the show started taking more fantastical direction they didn't commit on plot lines or hints that could have made more connection to the characters (I don't want to give examples incase it spoils something)
As the writer's first piece, it shows this in that it tries to have too much of its cake and eat it too. Because it shoves so many ideas at the audience, we don't get any bonding moments between characters, and yet are fully expected for the main character, who lost her only personality after episode 1, has close bonds with everyone that influence how she makes her final choice. It wasn't good, but there was promise in what was there in the beginning.
tl;dr
The animation and music was amazing, but the writing was poor and too crowded with ideas for it to make sense. The MC didn't have agency or personality enough to engage the other characters or audience.
