This game is one I've owned for a few years. when I first heard of the game I was thinking "oh it's a Pokemon ripoff" but I was DEAD WRONG! Sure you collect creatures, but the means to get them is extremely different and you don't select moves for them. I'm sure the game was out around the early times of the DS when they were forced to include a Touch Screen gimmick, and I feel like the one they used is quite good, since it's how you mine fossils and other objects, heck I don't see many games that use the DS mic either, and it's pretty good how to revive those fossils you use the mic! oh and the only thing I straight up HATE about the game is that in order to 100% your Spectrobes collection, you need to get a special Spectrobe that was only available for getting the game connected to Nintendo's Wi-Fi... I'll never be able to 100% the game... but hey, apart from that I've had a blast with the game... and sure the characters look... pretty poor quality if you're playing on something OTHER than a normal DS or a DS Lite... and I was playing this on the 3DS XL... but the game is pretty charming nonetheless. battling the Krawl is fun, mining for fossils and minerals is fun, the boss fights are great! but this game can do *SO* much better. especially if they were to say... release one of their code cards for that one spectrobe... oh wait I forgot to mention the code cards! yeah, each copy came with three plastic code cards that you'd put on top of the touch screen and tap the spots in order. it's how to get two of the three special Spectrobes... that is just an awesome thing. Now I haven't played the game's sequel yet but when I finally get to, I'll see if anything has been truly improved in it. that is why I give this game a Four star review instead of five stars. that and there's only three games in the franchise but I don't wanna have to bust out my wii and look for a copy of the last game... and I I also hope that if the license for this IP goes for sale some indie developer will buy it and revive the series.
