The show was irresponsibly playing into, supporting, and encouraging America's fascination with missing white women. The show is essentially elevating white women over the thousands of missing women of color. Simply another form of white priviledge that white people enjoy, even in death. Its unfortunate that Gabby Petito has suffered the fate that she has, but her murder highlights the disproportionate resources dedicated to a white woman vs. the many women of color and that's the fundamental issue that people of color have with the story. It highlights the disparity of coverage...The only good that comes out of how this story is covered is that it further solidifies the need for other news platforms that pay attention to people color, and it will mobilize people of color to see the importance of creating channels that treat them with the consideration that Gabby P has enjoyed, even in her death.
