Takes a fascinating story and turns it into a terrible film. Gratuitous use of war footage that fails to make the film moving; camply overacted series of poisonous lovers who it’s impossible to care about; poor narrative structure. Gave up half an hour from the end.

Excruciatingly slow. Well acted, humorous. However, this is a portrait of a woman who moves slowly and without energy, which translates to an almost-painful boredom rather than to tension. She also makes pretty awful sculptures, which makes watching her make art trying, rather than interesting or moving.
