Compared to the previous film, the 2021 Dune actually made sense and made me care about a wide array of characters through clear motivations and actions. My wife said the movie made more sense than the book did, but it's been a long time since she read it. There are long slow sections without action, but don't confuse that with there being no action. A lot happens. There is action. There is setup and payoff. Overall, a great movie that makes you wish they were already filming part two.
