Disney thinks the audience is full of idiots, is extremely heavy handed in the phoenix symbolism/imagery. Chinese martial arts action movie style was not what a Mulan live action movie needed. The potential romance between Mulan and Honghui was unnecessary. It’s a lot less funny than the animated movie. A lot of parts were sped up or skipped over in order to make more time for battle sequences. The last part of the movie with the smelting and scaffolding was stupid. Battle tactics were absurd. Loved the witch lady. She and Mulan had better chemistry than that ugly “love interest”. Some of the CG was rather bad.
