Social Dilemma:
An example of MSM making inroads on Netflix. [Expect more with the Obama-Netflix deal.] What do we learn from this piece of anti-internet propaganda? That society’s ills can be laid at the feet of social media. Be afraid, be very afraid; you are being mind-controlled.
Eg: An unexamined factoid (?) that youth suicides have gone up since 2010 or 11 is presented, unsourced, as proof positive of the dangers of social media. Did they control for returning soldiers committing suicide in record numbers? For societal ills and stresses: stressed-out absentee parents; unemployed parents; lack of good jobs; huge college debt; the pressure to keep up with the Kardashians? The offline—and TV—world is irrelevant apparently; kids are offing themselves because they don’t get enuf ‘likes.’ 🙄
Additional pitfalls according to this: online fake news and conspiracy theorists! Who do we get this from: hypocritical MSM talking heads—straight-faced, in unison, oblivious to their own complicity, no shame.
Lest we neglect Google. According to the film, Google gives you what you want, reinforcing biases and prejudices. Really? I should ignore my lying eyes and experience? All you have to do is use it to put the lie to this absurdity! Google gives us what Google (taking orders) wants us to think. Test it yourself if you haven’t: try “Xxxxxx is a terror state” (FACT) and see what Google coughs up—when we KNOW this subject has been dealt with in-depth, by reputable researchers. See for yourself.
