After going through the credits, (I had the Extra narration on) I found out parts of it was filmed in Australia it seems.
Australian films and this one seem to have that deep uncomfortable uneasy feeling to films from there.
Film SEEMS to take place in the American Midwest.
And it also seems like this film has a RICH backstory.
And a lot of tragedy.
Acting? THROUGH THE ROOF! And I mean if you did not know it was a movie, you would think it was done with HD quality spy cams in some scene's , they are done so well when replicating a MidWest couple that's been married for 7 years.
The Wife in the film? And the actions thought? Spot dead on.
Cold at times and so loving the next.
Fire and ice.
The Husband of 7 years? You can feel it.
The Black guy? Best Government operative ever. Picture perfect.
Comes in to give you the bad news with a smile.
Its just the grim feel of the film is so real to what the dark future looks like if it were indeed a dying world.
If you ever looked up the definition of Melon Collie, this would be that film.
Its almost Japanese in a way but without the happy ending to the film for you, but the characters themselves seem to be okay with it. MOSTLY..
If you wanted a film that inspires you to think, this is one of those kinds of films. It leaves you thinking about it after the film is over for quite a while.
The Cruelty of the story really is off putting.
You find out that the smile and why they drink so much in the film is what is going on as the plot that you find out MUCH later in the film.
It explains so much. And the Director did the kind of film that will live on as one of the best in Cinema has to offer.
I'm not joking about that either.
What let this film down was the CGI. It just did not look like it belonged there or was rushed. Its not BAD. Just did not fit in the right way.
And just like the movie, I'm leaving this review the same way at the ending...
