A good experience but the game has zero replayability, is at times boring, far too easy & short (even on highest difficulty) and has no online mode to offer.
For the most part I enjoyed the game. I watched every cutscene and played the game “as it was meant to be played” on Survivor Difficulty. Whilst the whole cutscene/movie as a game experience is cool, there are too many cutscenes and alot of them fold into the combat and so become monotonous. The game asks us to emotionally invest but when the story doesn’t evolve and just piles on shocking twist after shocking twist, the player can’t be blamed for losing interest or getting annoyed with the story. Whilst it has its moments - like when Joel gets killed - if this was a film it would go straight to DVD.
Aside from the cutscenes contributing to lack of replay ability, one play through the game feels totally rinsed to me. I’ve got from it everything it has to offer.
It is also far too easy even on the hardest difficulty to warrant a second play through. “Yeah I can’t wait to go back and try it on light”
It only has one mode “story mode” no online, no attractive extras. If 55£ or 60$ is a lot of money to you then I would stay away. I would feel cheated if I spent hard earned cash on a game that I could only play once and takes 5 days to complete when most games today (with an online mode) people spend at least a year playing it for the same price.
