Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora โ Review
โญ 6/10
As a massive fan of Avatar and the rich, immersive world James Cameron built, stepping into the shoes of a Na'vi and exploring Pandora firsthand was a dream come true. Visually, Frontiers of Pandora absolutely delivers, It's hands down the best-looking game I've played on the Xbox Series X. The lush biomes, dynamic lighting, and sheer scale of the world make it a genuine graphical showcase that any Avatar fan will appreciate.
The main story? It's good, not great, but solid enough to carry you through. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for much of the content that surrounds it. Side quests quickly become tedious, the outposts and bases feel more repetitive than even Far Cry's formulaic setup, and the game suffers from some truly terrible character writing. Preya, in particular, stands out as one of the most irritating NPCs I've encountered in recent memory she messes up constantly and grates on your nerves every time she speaks.
And then there's the baffling inclusion of microtransactions. Why a single-player, first-person story game needs a cosmetic shop is beyond me. Itโs invasive, unnecessary, and takes away from what should have been a pure, immersive experience.
Despite all that, I still found enjoyment in the journey! Mainly due to the incredible visuals and the chance to explore Pandora from a first-person perspective. If you're an Avatar enthusiast or just looking for a game to show off your consoleโs power, it's worth checking out. Just donโt expect much beyond the surface. By the end, I was more than ready to leave the Pandora behind.
