First things first, no Raat Akeli Hai is not a remake of Knives Out. Yes they are based on same concept of rich family patriarch's murder in a mansion but the storyline and sub-genre is different. While Knives Out had a good dose of humor but this one is very serious and even takes a dark turn in the climax. Like the trend in most movies and shows these days, Raat Akeli Hai is also based in small town India so it seemed like a tailor made role for Nawazuddin who is spot on as a thana incharge trying to solve a case of whodunnit involving big names. He is a very sincere cop who stands up against pressure from his bosses and ridicule from his colleagues for pursuing an angle which everybody believes is a dead end. Editing could have been a bit tighter but overall the movie manages to engage you till the end with superb acting and direction. Grab some popcorn and watch it to get your high of a good desi crime thriller.

Avoid this biryani, it is completely tasteless.

This is what happens when you combine Section 375 (Hindi movie) and Ponmagal Vandhal (Tamil movie) without any sense of direction or script. Absolutely pathetic movie, don't watch it even if you have nothing else to do during lockdown.

Too much hype, very less substance. I have seen rubber bands that are less stretchable than the script of this show.
