This film is way behind its time, it portrays an unrealistic high school environment, it doesn’t give a good solution when facing discrimination as a women, and in its effort to be diverse chooses to focus on a cis white straight girl who only speaks up when encouraged by a black feminist student. This film is extremely heavy handed and leaves no room for nuance only having one sided arguments fighting against almost cartoonishly evil people. I think certain things do hit in this film but certainly doesn’t do anything original and is way behind its time. My biggest problem is that it’s unrealistic which means that it’s message therefore will be harder to get through. The message isn’t a bad one but it’s execution is at best mediocre.
