A miracle indeed! A masterpiece till the very end.The story triggers something in the heart that I'm not quite sure is there. The feelings of passion, loss, regret, helplessness and contemplation couldn't have been expressed better. What is past? Now is past. The very moment that may seem like heaven is nothing but a fragment of lost time that's impossible to relive, impossible to let go of as it now governs your life, dictates your life, adds reason to your life and so you hold on, hold on tighter, hold on forever because keeping those fragments of happiness alive, keeps you alive. Such is the story of oliver and elio. A story about love that existed when they first came across, love that persisted as they lived together and love that turned deathless the instant they parted. Reading it felt like diving into a world you won't ever wanna escape from. A world that was bound to misery the moment it was born, a world made of just two individuals who to the other, was the World.

I knew this book was going to leave me apalled when I first picked it up but nothing could have prepared me for those comically evil cops and the irony is, they are real!(or at least were, which is little comforting actually) It's horrifying to think about the judicial administration ending up in the hands of such dim witted jerks. Honestly though, their idiocy didn't make me half as furious as their bloated ego did. Talk about being drunk on power! At first I tried reasoning their obsession with ron. I mean c'mon, he was a sketchy guy there's no denying that and was twice accused of raping women (which of course was never proved so I'm definitely not implying he was guilty) but the way they went man hunting after fritz was so absurd that calling it ridiculous would be an understatement. Out of all the people falsely accused, Dennis's part impacted me the most. His wife murdered, daughter molested, falsely accused of rape and murder and without any evidence was thrown behind the bars for 12 years, an intellectual lumped with notorious killers.

This book butchered my heart into countless pieces. Couldn't keep it down, couldn't resist the urge to cry. It's just tragically beautiful. The characters were very well portrayed and I think I liked it better than the kite runner which I thought was gonna be my favourite for awhile. Mariam in particular was just awe- inspiring. If kite runner is a story of a boy who always chose the easier option, thousand splendid suns is a story of a girl who was never given an option. Sometimes life can be unbearably unfair, brutal and treacherous and there isn't always sunshine after the rain for everyone. A fascinating tale about dreams, aspirations, betrayal, regret, unreached feelings ,sacrifice, contemplation and hope.
