I might have liked the show if it wasn't presented as a remake. Would probably stand great on its own but now it's just a sad wanna be of something else. Love Jared but the show takes itself far too seriously. Plagued with bad writing, bad acting, and bad storytelling.
It really frustrates me because I see what they were trying to do by bringing a strong, female, non white person onto the show and by attacking real world issues. But all the show has done is reflected badly on these causes. The show perpetrates the argument I've heard time and time again that strong female characters can't ever be in their own shows. All they can be in is musty remakes of other things. The lack of originality just further hurts the cause and is frankly disgusting.
I just don't enjoy having the "woke" storyline of the show shoved down my throat. It's not real, it's not authentic. It's fake, campy, and forced. I'm going to give the show a couple more chances to get it right but if the next couple episodes don't change my mind I'm going to be done.
