I preferred Cromwell to royalty and found Restoration Comedy not merely bawdy but spiritually dead. Humor is a funny phenomenon. Some people laugh at over the top evil (“Pulp Fiction”) or at the mentally challenged (“The Big Lebowski”).So too, some people enjoy “The Favorite”. I prefer spiritual nourishment to a toxic humor that kills us softly with amusement over degradation.
