It changed my life completely. Is it possible to feel such a strong affinity to Hermann Hesse, a stranger? How is it that this book came to me when I needed it most, unknowingly? I didn’t know at first, but I realised that the story of Demian is an integral piece of my fate. I am forever grateful to him for this masterpiece.
It was a difficult read, not that I didn’t understand it, but because it made me come to terms with myself, and as a quote in this book says, “I realize today that nothing in the world is more distasteful to a man than to take the path that leads to himself.”
