Here's why people watch this movie and some like it: To see Adam Sandler act. He finally got a serious role, and he can act.
Other than that, this movie is horrible. One of the few movies I've been to where people walked out. I had to step out just to take a break. Maybe a film student or film historian or art critic will tell me I don't understand the character development, or some artsy details that escaped me. Well, that may be true, but I know what I like and don't like, and I don't like this movie. Unbelievable story line, an unlovable lead character, and total suspension of belief. I eventually decided about half way through that I will just need to root for this guy's failure and bad decisions because that's the direction it was going. You could see the ending a mile away - maybe not specifics, but you generally knew what was going to happen.
This is a sad, depressing, and unrealistic movie. Don't see it.
