Getting increasingly like low end tabloid newspapers. So many 2nd rate guests. Current obsession with Brittany Spears has me switching off. Just who is their target audience.

The funny bits are, indeed that. Especially when Colm is in confession to the priest. The unrealistic story line of the action taken by Colm towards Padraig was for me a nonsense. Could not recommended going to see it, although the sets and the landscape shots are superbly done. Not a patch on the Gleeson/ Farrell film 'In Bruge'.

Jennifer Hudson is amazing as the lead roll. If you are a fan of Aretha, you will not be disappointed in her singing of some of the greatest songs of all time. Forest Whitaker is good too, playing her Dad, and so are Marc Maron as Jerry Wexler, the Atlantic records producer, and Myk Watford as Rick Hall, the owner of the Fame recording studio in Muscle Shoals. For me, the scene where she goes to this great studio in Alabama is the best part of the film.It was where Franklin found her own sound and became the great soul singer we know and love.

Watched all of the 1998 to 2000 series at least twice. I love the characters and the humour. The character Angus, is fantastic!

A masterpiece. The cinematography is worthy of its Oscar. Brilliant sets and superb cast. One of the great films of the 90's.

Bryan Stevenson was at the Perth Writers Festival and gave a talk about the book in 2015. He is a clever man who had a Harvard law degree, but instead of going into a lucrative law practice, chose to defend black Americans on death row. The film is a quite faithful to the book. I don't understand the negative reviews at all. Those of us at all familiar with southern states racism won't be surprised at the content of the book or the film. Desmond Tutu describes Bryan Stevenson as "America's young Nelson Mandela". Fair praise indeed!

Enjoyed it. Cast are excellent. As with any whodunit, there is a bit of nonsense in the plot, but it never gets dull!

Very good. Excellent cast, most of them are in ideal parts, especially Brendan Gleeson as Knuckles.
