Something is not real or romantic or sensual or loving about this show . The poor mom of Conrad and Jeremiah seems off the whole time and then we learn she is sick . Did you really have to make her sick?They should give her give her personality and make her bubbly and enjoyable and let her grow as a character. Do not always make parents wallpaper when they could be the best part of the show . Then there is Jeremiah who is bi or gay or what ever woke thing he is . No one thinks a guy kissing a guy is sexy. But the audience gets to see it early on for no reason. It's just cringy. Jeremiah becomes Liberace at that moment and he is never seems like a love interest after that. He just becomes "the uninteresting brother" So when Jeremiah all of a sudden likes Belly and she does not really like him it is just dull and boring .Yet they kiss and all of a sudden are in a boring relationship. Belly acts mean and backstabbing towards everyone at some point. Glad she found it in her heart to make up with best friend who literally came on a bus to see her. She may get nicer as the series goes on but she is missing an authentic adorable essence. We kind of like Belly's brother. But early he puts one average girl on a Pedestal and then the other home town girl he makes out as a piece of garbage it's just weird and speaks to his character. For 16 years old, Belly is hooking up way too fast and then letting Liberace feel her out.. Really ? And what's with Belly's mom? She is never fleshed out but yes we see she is upset with her friend . Then the strange relationship with her husband and oh yes she sort of dating a writer that might be bisexual...how unsexy is this show supposed to be? Ok Conrad may be the only redeeming character in this whole thing. At least people can identify with Conrad. He has emotions. He seems more real then the other characters. He is also more interesting. Finally, why treat the dads so badly? how about having complex real parents that are loving and interesting and go back-and-forth but still loving towards each other . Make them real without making them sick or workaholics or cheaters. After the end of the first season,I was still thinking about the Fourth of July party and how pretty everything looked. I thought how few people were invited to the 4th yet they had all this food and all the decorations and then about three or four guests get up and leave and then there was no one there. What a Wasteful 4th.
