As is all too common, the shot callers have taken a beloved piece of source material and sacrificed it to the dark gods of commerce. From the opening exposition, through every minute I could stand to watch, it was painfully derivative, dull and blatantly soulless. Like the whole adaptation had been brainstormed by corporate executives during the catered lunch of their quarterly earnings report day. Then they gave the script to a handful of renfaire employees and someone had their nephew do the special effects. It should be a crime but instead it's just another high budget, ZERO art, disappointment that I'd suggest you simply forget.
