This is a great book that should be a must read for all politicians and decision makers, environmentalists and anyone interested in flood protection and water conservation. The authors should receive an award for the work they have done to capture photographs and memorialize the scenes of the immense, shocking damage done in our beautiful Kananaskis Country playground.
These photos show that in the 2013 flood, the destruction to riverbanks, trees, hiking trails, bridges, roads, campgrounds, picnic areas and tourist facilities began way upstream of any communities. Dr. John Pomeroy observed after the 2013 flood that the best way to protect from future floods was in the most Eastern valley of the Rockies.
It makes no sense to wait until all this damage is done and build a flood mitigation project close to Calgary.
