I don't understand why everyone has this much of a disconnect with the story. Did we watch the same movie? I live this life. I know people who are living this life. My town lives this life that is depicted in the movie. It's reality, then more so than now, but still reality. My thoughts are that this is an incredible story told. The relationship between grandson and grandma is EXACTLY what my relationship with my grandma was. The similarities are staggering honestly. She was my rock. She wasn't perfect, she wasn't sitting in a church pew every Sunday, she wielded a cigarette in her hand and cussed up a storm. But she was good. She never hurt a single soul, atleast not in the time that I knew her. She was the rock of our family. She was the family. And the similarities between the movie and real life, for me anyway, is striking. I challenge everyone to watch this movie with a clear head. Don't go into it with a preconceived opinion on what you think it is or what it's going to tell you. Think, as you watch, about your own family. And in a weird, I suppose, Appalachian way, I hope you find as many similarities between this movie and real life. I am more than happy to be who I am, and where I'm from, and to have known and lived through this way of life.
