If you are planning on watching this movie expecting that its going to be just a copy paste version of the animated version, its not. Its a much more mature telling of the story. It has hints of the animated movie's music in the score which is a nice touch. Most people are upset because it doesn't have the songs or the actual cricket. People keep saying "Disney ruined my childhood with this bad remake." Okay well I think you would have said it was boring if it was just a frame for frame remake of the original. It still has its bits of humor and whimsy. It's a great story told in a way that elevates and gives respect to the Chinese traditional ballad.
