There are some scenes that stick with me from the movie. I mean, there are a few traumatic scenes that I still think about thirteen years later. I won't ruin what's in the mist for you. But what I can say is the mist represents the unknown and how we respond to it. On a Social Psychological level this movie nailed it! I didn't really notice this during the first time I watched it. I was much younger and some things I missed. But now, during the pandemic, amongst isolation, you notice similarities in their reaction to chaos and the unknown. You saw survivors who took the mist very seriously and were precautionary, others were in complete denial until they lost someone and or died themselves. There were others that couldn't take being confined and took their chances. They were hopeful at first, but as the movie progresses, you see them searching for any answers, turning to nut cases, and finding religion. They truly did get it right with the human response to chaos and the unknown. You can see the similarities with what we're going through right now irl. Only they're dealing with a deadly mist instead of a deadly COVID.
