Judy Bozarth

Though the film is occasionally uneven due to a few unclear jumps in time, Sean Penn's performance, & even moreso, his real-life daughter Dylan's work is exemplary, & brings this well out of the ranks of just another melodramatic sob-story. I'm very happy to have seen this on the big screen!

Enchanting, thoroughly absorbing (true) story, with an emotion-grabbing, Oscar-worthy turn by Toni Collette, plus delightful Damien Lewis. Filled with a pantheon of English & other character actors, some well-known. "Amaaaaazing" cinematography of the breathtaking landscapes. Absolutely a must-see. Good for pre-teens & up, too.

Great casting, loved all the story details even if some "assumed." Wonderful period touches...music, vehicles, storefronts, hair-dos, clothes, cereals, TVs...all meticulously chosen. Impressive, comprehensive, & fascinating. The 3 1/2 hours sailed by!!
