We are avid sports enthusiasts. We've watched "Get Up!' many times. At least until today. First, Greeny should practice smiling at home in front of a mirror. We don't see him smile much on the show. He is WAY too intense.
Second, Wednesday's show was, for the most part disgusting. If we (caucasians) were sitting there with the "bros" and Greeny and referred to African Americans as "Black" would it be cool? How about at the grocery store? In church? At little league? What if officials or game commentators referred to personnel in positions during games as "Black" or "White" would you like to listen to them?
Touting the question: "Is this the year for Black QB?" America has enough problems with divisiveness without having to stomach it on sports shows. Your discussion this morning was putrid at best.
We don't recall references to outstanding QBs such as Bradshaw. Aikman, Brady, Brees and a many other Caucasian QBs in context as the "Year of the White QBs" or, for that matter, any reference as to color. We all know there are potentially, if not already, gr8 QBs such as Lamar Jackson, Watson, etc. Most folks we know don't think of QBs in terms of color or any other discriminating reference. We think of all high-caliber QBs as gr8 athletes, we don't give a rip what their ethnic background is. Why did ALL OF YOU feel you had to magnify "color" during the broadcast? Some folks might think insecurity has raised it's head?
Perhaps you will be asking "Is this the year of the Whites?" when some "White" NBA players "do well." Whatcha think "guizes?"
While we are at it, ESPN should cancel "First Take." Stephen A is one of the most bigoted inflammatory individuals we have ever seen on TV. Based on the FEW times we had the stomach to watch him.
Perhaps you can educate Jerry Jones: He said: "We have a tough ROAD to hoe." While they "hoe roads" in Texas, most gardners "hoe rows." Jerry could ask his gardner!
