Great show, great cast. You get hooked by the characters and it gets better and better. Those giving it bad ratings probably also watch ABC Family and think it is awesome. They are also probably put off by the science, and the subtle barbs, which involves thinking which is off-putting to a larger and larger chunk of the population. 2 words. Baby monkey.
