Addicted is different because it tells a different kind of story in the best way possible: With excellent writing and acting where you can feel the chemistry between the characters, Addicted takes the audience by the heart and walks them through the story in a way that we feel all of the uncertainty that the characters feel. Life is not black and white, but full of gray and ambiguity at times. Addicted lets us live in the gray but also burst out passionately at times in the direction of being true to our feelings and in the direction of love. It's for young people. It's for older people. It's for anyone who's ever fallen in unconventional love and didn't know what to do about it. It's for people who like a good soap opera or novella, and because it allows for silences and pauses, it is for people who like to feel their way through not only a story's characters, but settings and mood as well. The sad fact that it was censored and removed from the internet before a Session 2 could be made is so strange, as the story never asks for more than acceptance and harmony and the courage to love.

As an English-speaking person, in America, the show was pretty much inaccessible to me through all normal channels. Fortunately, the fan base is incredibly enthusiastic, and fans took it upon themselves to add English captions and post downloadable and stream-able versions of the show in a million places. I was able to watch the entire thing. Did I try to buy it to give money to the show? Absolutely. But only the fan postings provide English subtitles. And I mention this in a review because the enthusiasm and the work that the fans did to make the show accessible to the world is a testament to the quality of writing and acting in the series. I’m not sure what led to at least one big tragedy in the show, but from what I read there were political pressures on the show’s producers at times, which if true is another testament to its relevance. The gay storyline between eye candy David and Fer is at times frustratingly immature - but it’s a story about high school, after all. And it is a novella. Taking everything into account, it was worth the effort that, sadly, many thousands of us had to make, to watch it.
