The visuals and the animation are Disney's best yet; amazing attention to detail and very realistic lighting and particle sims. I would say this was an overall entertaining movie, with the characters being one of the strong points (everyone is interesting and vibrant, it really FEELS like a family).
I also love the metaphors it incorporates that us as the viewers can apply to our own families.
My main issue is with the plot - the magic doesn't really make sense, call me a pragmatist, but it is quite hard to understand and feel like it could be "real" (yes I know it's magic). Also the story failed to make me care about what was at stake - cool, the house fell down and some people fell out, it's not really very exciting.
Overall I'd give this movie a 6/10; it has wonderfully vibrant characters and beautiful imagery but lacks any element of danger.
