Yana Ashley Doering

This movie was so nostalgic for me because I had read the series as a teen. I thought Joey King did a great job as Tally, all the actors were really well cast in my opinion. Although Its been years since I read the series so I can't speak to how accurate the minor details were, as an adaptation it held up for me. Tally's arc was done really well, especially her journey to finding the Smoke. I think the suspense could have been built up a little more. For example, scenes between David and Tally lacked the depth I was waiting for, not because of the acting (which was wonderful) but there should have been more time spent on them. Over all I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the second film.

The movie was a little too fast paced and cheesy, there were some great parts but quite a bit of it felt forced, with not enough character build up. Dylan Sprouse stole the show, his acting style is great, he's got that sarcastic funny thing down, would love to see him as a lead on other projects.

Having a hard time getting through it, Jamie Lynn Spears as Zoey is not great, she looks tired and too aged for the part (even though she's not actually). Her acting leaves much to be desired as well. Watching it after all the bullying allegations also left a bad taste in my mouth and the only thing to get me through to finishing is the aspect of nostalgia coupled with the other actors on set. Logan and Quinn were the main reason for watching this reboot.

It could have been a little better, most notable characters for me were Nikki and Leia, I feel like there was more to that friendship than her and Gwen. I like the idea and the storyline, I really didn't care for Ozzy. Not the actor himself but more the way he was written. The only time I actually got anything from the character is when he came out to Kitty. All in all I would watch season 2 I just hope the writers step it up a notch.

The male lead was a great actor, the female lead didn't lack in acting abilities but something about it felt off. There was no chemistry between the leads and not enough going on between in the movie to make the 'love' believable. There was only one scene where they are talking and painting, that's it. The idea of the movie is cute but it goes way too far with the funeral and the wedding. The character of Maya really should be committed, it's just a little too far fetched.
