An eerie, surreal and ultimately beautiful horror film. This isn't for the casual viewer. It is shot in black and white, it is slow paced and there isn't much of a traditional story.
Yet it is extraordinary that it still packs in a distinct stylistic flourish, an atmosphere of desperation, strong feminist undertones, a romance reminiscent of Tomas Alfredson's 2008 masterpiece "Let the Right One in" and all out strangeness - where and when is this story happening? Where are all the people?
The movie does not answer many questions but if you value a unique viewing experience more than an explanation, watch this and you won't regret it.
