Well presented. For me very interesting history, having worked, as a young stenographer, at the London HO of the Commercial Bank of Scotland (1952 - 56). I knew that there was an historical reason why the Bank had Joint Managers - a Highlander and a Lowlander - gentlemen named Campbell and Miller who shared a very long, rectangular office. I soon became aware that ancient clan history coloured attitudes of Scottish employees - coming to London for experience in international banking. These deep-seated attitudes were incomprehensible to a Londoner - but they surely ran deep in the blood of those young Scottish male bank employees. Highlanders and Lowlanders drank at different pubs. In those days, business suits were worn on weekdays. On Saturday mornings the bank opened for half a day and encouraged Scottish attire; every teller wore his clan tartan. From this excellent documentary, I start to understand the history which prompted behaviour & attitudes I observed at close quarters.
