I'm not one to usually write reviews but this show made me laugh, cry and I watched it all in a night so I think it's worth this review. As a first generation immigrant from India who grew up in a Western country it was really nice to finally have a high school comedy/drama that reflected some of my cultural reality. Beyond that I think the diversity and representation of diverse and nuanced characters and the acting was excellent and very refreshing to see, and to quote the show 'everyone's from different backgrounds but is still really hot?'. Lastly, I expected this to be a trashy teenage show (and that I would still fully enjoy it) but the underlying themes of trauma and grief were explored with a lot of poignancy and the witty and very modern, culturally relevant dialogues made up for some of the cliche and overdone aspects of the plot.
