I like this show and in particular, the mother/daughter dynamic. I find it funny but heartwarming. But I must say, I’m not a fan of open concept, particularly in older homes. I prefer the approach “Home Town” takes, in restoring older homes. The warmth and character of the building is retained. Plus, isn’t it nice to have a little privacy? To sit in the living area, look past the dining area, into the kitchen at the other end of the room, isn’t my idea of a warm environment. At least a partial wall would break things up and lower the sound level a bit when kids are...being kids. Even when entertaining, people naturally break off into smaller groups; so the definition isn’t a problem. One last bit - I love the theme of your “forever home” but forgive me, isn’t the house too large for the neighbourhood? It doesn’t seem to fit in with the other properties. Friends of mine had a tall house built next to theirs and it blocked the sun from their new deck and vegetable garden. They approached the city and tried to have the builder accommodate them, but he continued to work on it while they were in dispute - then the city told them that as the work was done, they’d have to live with it! They were out thousands from hiring an engineer and filing paperwork, and now have to live in the shadow of the big box next to them.
