Okay. I thought this was a noir parody of the precious, existential, got-everything-but-meaning hero, dogged-by-his-nemesis type movie. Granted, parodies are more broadly funny, usually. Anyway both Hedlund and Isaac were brilliant, complex, especially Isaac, who had more to work with in that regard. Fun to watch and sometimes even affecting, the way Isaac's thwarted, anguished child appeared in their confrontations. Reminds me of Sam Shepard 's work.
