Daryl Achenbach

I enjoyed the book. The author really shows what it was like growing up in a very small town in rural Iowa. It portrays how innocent one would be upon having made the decision to join the Marines prior to WW2. It points out the emotions involved in constant warfare and then being a POW for years. I grew up in the same county (50's) and Bertram is probably even smaller today that it was back then.
