The 1976 version in surround sound on the big screen blew this baby out of the water. Midway is a big enough story in itself, and shouldn't have been watered down and overly lengthened to start at Pearl Harbor. Anything the Chinese are involved in is over stylized, poorly acted, and in this case, went off in an obvious, yet underdeveloped tangent for their part in WW2. I expected better from the CGI with regard to accuracy (was particularly bothered with the Arizona and Lexington). Speaking of Pearl, we can thank FDR for the attack and loss of life. He and Winston were doing all they could to get us out of our isolation and they finally succeeded at an enormous cost. Steer clear of this box office bomb. Flaps up, engine off on approach landing for practice? Even more laughable in a one engine bomber and onto a carrier deck. Way to go Maverick! Turning point? Pure propaganda The United States would have won this war even if Hornet and Enterprise joined Yorktown at the bottom of the Pacific in this battle. Best war movies ever...Platoon, Black Hawk Down, Apocalypse Now, 1976 Midway, Fury, The Bedford Incident, Fail Safe, Kelly's Heros, Das Boat, Enemy at the Gates, and Cross of Iron.

Miles to Go or Shelby American vs Ford Motor Company would have been more apt titles. The climactic LeMans race was very well done and certainly the highlight of the film. The rest seemed forced and Bales performance was lacking (probably direction as he is a talented actor). The assembly line of Falcons being shut down was laughable and didn't fit. There wasn't enough R&D from a technical prospective, especially with regard to the 7.0L (427 CID) and details such as the TWA 727 paint scheme were off. Wait till it's free to see.

This movie kept out of one star territory, but barely. I reserve that for the likes of the 2017 movie Mother. That and the Oppy's new diddy was well cast with Miss Pugh. She was the bomb. Unfortunately, I would also add this miserable journey to a long list of movies with subplots that subtly attempt to shift how we are supposed to think. In example - socialism / globalism is good, and those "just believers" are unfairly persecuted or even drowned by the dark hand of the oppressors. Or perhaps the ridiculous notion that the use of atomic bomb on Germany was fair game, but Japan was somehow another story altogether. Thus attempting to lead me to the crazy conclusion the atomic bomb was honorably developed solely by the Jewish scientific community to stop Germany's theology. Then those wickedly overbearing Army guys took it. The nerve. The jumping around I could have lived with, but there are all these images ingrained in the film that I suspect are an attempt to convince you that men of genius are troubled by complex thoughts, but it comes off more like the makers of the film enjoy a Berkeley inspired drug trip now and then, which leads me share this thought. If this is the best the writers can do, I don't care how long they stay out on strike.
