As a film it was decent, however this was not a bond film. Ian Fleming is rolling in his casket with the way Barbara has stripped James of the through and through cold, calculating “ends justify the means” hard as nails, unfeeling and unwavering mission first persona that built his character. It also severely lacked basically all things bond.
Hate it or love it James is not the family man. Never has been. Why all of a sudden is he teary eyed over not 1 but 2 women in the same film? The Cuba scene was a whole lot of commotion for nothing but to give Ana de Armas some face time (because her existence in the movie as a non-bond girl) was both meaningless and added nothing to the story. Having 007 done it by himself would have been another testament to his character. Instead it’s a buddy cop sequence with no additional payoff. *handshake*!?!?
