I just left this movie and am really glad I saw it. It’s cute and I thought it was going to be really cringy after reading the book but they did so well! I’m so glad they didn’t cram everything from the book into the movie it would have been impossible and seemed so unrealistic in such a short amount of time. The two main actors were so adorable even when they weren’t talking I still found myself smiling at their chemistry. I only wish they would have had a bit more dialogue and less silences for the sake of watching it in a theater and feeling like everyone could hear me eating my popcorn lol. All in all, I loved it!
****-SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT-***
I’m also glad they modernized the movie by taking out all the old Fray references and not to mention all the times Hardin Grabs Tessa without her approval- bravo to everyone for making so many little changes like that. Also for not having them get an actual apartment together. My only critique is that I think they should have risked it with the ending of the movie. The book ended making you crave the next book but they played it safe with her forgiving him just a couple minutes after seeing him betray her. Also the “betrayal” of Hardin wasn’t even bad in the movie and didn’t pull your heart as much for Tessa. In general he wasn’t as much of a bad boy in the film, and his betrayal was only saying he was going to fall in love as a joke- no telling his friends about what they did, etc. They played it safe, if there’s a sequel please go deeper with the characters and the pain, it will make their love so much more of a miracle! I hope there’s another movie, go see it if you’re thinking about it!
