The story is not accurate. Two AT hikers searched for her over the 2015 Columbus Day weekend. They found a pile of human remains next to Largay's belongings. They notified the warden service with pictures and GPS coordinates. The warden service never acknowledged the hikers' discovery. Hours later, the warden service announced that "two surveyors happened to find her body." Later, the warden service staged a tacky, disrespectful "discovery" of her body for the cameras. This is a shameful part of the story that the author pretends did not happen. Just saying.
