Well researched and documented and written in an entertaining way. Hastings delivers a balanced account of events over the 3 decade conflict from WWII ending into the seventies. He also adds lots of examples from people on both sides, peasants to presidents. If you are interested in political science, military history, the undo-China region history, or the awakening of a pre-colonial era country to independence this is a must read.
